I’m not just talking about the news. I’m talking about us. You and me. Tumblr. The universe. Mariah Carey. Obama. Pineapple. Bananas in Pajamas. Okay, now I’m just naming random people and things but think about it.
A girl writes a racist post and it gets over 800 notes but if a person writes about their appreciation for someone else….barely 20 notes.
We have to remember that we are letting them win when we react so strongly to their hate. And I’m saying we because I was just as hype as you guys were, if not more. But damn son, I was angry.
But why? Why do we let things upset us when we are well aware there are people out there who are misinformed, uneducated and sometimes just plain ridiculous?
I want to stop focusing on the negative. I want to stop reacting to those things so strongly. So starting right now I’m going to give more attention to the positive.
First off, all you people are pretty fucking amazing. You freaking reblog posts with a cause, sign petitions, are passionate about making the World a better place, like Flight of the Conchords, listen to my knock knock jokes…okay I’ll stop here for now.
But really, Every single one of you is pretty damn amazing and I just wanted to take the time to let you know that. I wanted to bring attention to the positive on tumblr and that is you guys. All of you. <3
